The highlight of the trip came on our fourth day. A passing boater stopped by our camp to chat and, seeing our lack of a motorized watercraft, offered to take our group out to see the legendary Rainbow Bridge National Monument.

The 2018 special featured several well-known personalities from the reality and social media spheres who participated in the week-long event. We woke up when the sun hit the tents and heated the desert air. Breakfast was a communal affair cooked over a camp stove, fueled by strong coffee and mapping out routes on a crinkled paper topography map. Our days became a masterclass in spontaneous exploration:

On Thursday night, we tied all three houseboats together in a raft. We had a generator running string lights across the bows. Someone produced a guitar that had miraculously survived the journey in a dry bag. The playlist was peak 2018: Sicko Mode , This Is America , Africa by Weezer (the cover, which caused a debate), and way too much Mr. Brightside .

There is a spot near Dangling Rope (RIP, the marina is mostly gone now) where the jump is exactly 35 feet. In 2018, a spring breaker named "Chad" (probably) spent 45 minutes psyching himself up. He took off his shirt, slapped his chest, screamed "YOLO," and jumped. He hit the water flat. The sound reverberated off the canyon walls like a gunshot. He surfaced, bright red, gasping, and didn't say a word for two hours. He wasn't hurt, just humbled. The lake teaches you physics very quickly. The cast included individuals such as Piper Perri,

Spring Break 2018 wasn’t supposed to be perfect. It was supposed to be chaotic — six friends, one houseboat, and a stretch of red rock canyon carved by the Colorado River. But somewhere between loading the coolers and casting off from Antelope Point Marina, the trip became something else entirely.

At Lake Powell, the transition from day to night is a cinematic event. As the sun dips below the horizon, the orange rock faces undergo a slow transformation, burning a fiery magenta before cooling into deep shades of purple and charcoal.
