This is the most common format for modern Maton acoustics. It usually contains 7 or 8 digits. Year of manufacture (e.g., 06 = 2006). 3rd & 4th Digits: Production week. 5th Digit: Day of the week (1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday, etc.).

In the early 2000s, Maton transitioned to a highly logical, computer-tracked system. If your guitar was built after 2001, your search is simple.

Maton has used three main serial number systems.

If you have a Maton amplifier, its serial number system is completely different. These numbers are usually stamped into the rear of the chassis, feature a letter (often 'A') followed by four numbers (e.g., A4217), and have not been officially documented.

Look directly inside the soundhole. Modern and semi-vintage Maton acoustics feature a paper label glued to the back wood or the neck block [1, 2]. The serial number is printed or hand-written on this label.
