: Great Gideon’s Crawl Space layout has been completely removed from spawning during the Ascent sequence. Entering this space previously caused the game client to crash instantly.
Note: Version v1.7.9B introduced significant bug fixes for the Tainted characters and optimized the Ascent path, cementing the "Tainted" characters as the final, desperate version of Isaac's soul in the afterlife.

The v1.7.9B update is a significant patch that brings numerous changes to the game. One of the most notable additions is the new "Repentance" chapter, which serves as the game's new final chapter. This chapter is significantly more challenging than previous ones, featuring tougher enemies, new boss fights, and a greater emphasis on exploration.
Tainted Cain took the biggest hit in this update regarding his crafting exploits. Previously, players used Secret Rooms to salvage items for special, high-quality crafting drops. —salvaging no longer yields those specific drops. To compensate, his starting stats were adjusted to match standard Cain, giving him higher damage right out of the gate. The community quickly noticed that this forced players to rely more on shops, as crafting became less consistent.
